God Is…I Am… Devotional

Day 31 – 2/25/19: RENEWING TRUTH:

God is my Father

RENEWING SCRIPTURE:

If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

MATTHEW 7:11

RENEWING THOUGHT:

A good father wants to be with His children. He sacrifices his sleep, his personal comfort, his money, and his time just to be with the child he loves. If he can, he works to set his child up to go farther than he ever went and have more than he ever had. It is his delight to bring his child joy and success.

Of course, earthly fathers are flawed, broken creatures. We all battle selfishness and pride. We all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Even so, we still instinctively desire to give good gifts to our children.

Jesus shocked and offended the religious leaders of His day by describing and relating to God-not as a distant, detached Deity-but rather as Abba Father. God is a good Father. He cares about your needs. It is His deIight to be with you. He is for you. Yet, so often we have not because we ask not. Or we approach God as if He is that angry, distant, detached being the Pharisees perceived Him to be.

What if there are gifts waiting for us in heaven, packaged and ready to be delivered, but they will not be sent until we ask? To ask God for something requires hope, faith, and humility. You can ask God for what you need today. Even if you feel far from God, remember that He is more loving, forgiving, and gracious than you know. You are a dearly loved child of God. He is your good Father.

RENEWING INSPIRATION:

I want you to know something. We just don’t get it-how much our Father loves us. I want you to know, He would like to hold you in His arms near His heart, and heal your broken heart and comfort you, and give you peace and joy-that is beyond our understanding. He wants to hold every broken hurting heart and tell you how much the perfect father loves you.

                                                                                                        -James Robison

Day 32 – 2/26/19: RENEWING TRUTH:

l Am a Child of God

RENEWING SCRIPTURE:

Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God-children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.

JOHN 1:12-13

RENEWING THOUGHT:

The Bible gives us many extraordinary promises. One of the most amazing of these is the stunning declaration that all those who are saved are called children of God. When you were born again, you were literally "born of God." This truth carries enormous implications.

Like all of God's wonderful promises, you receive the implications of this promise by faith. Only as you renew your mi n to this truth-fully integrating it into your heart and belief system-can you experience the full benefits.

Ephesians 5:1 says, "Follow God's example, therefore, as dearly loved children."   That’s right. According to the Word, you are not just God's child, but a dearly loved son or daughter. This is a game changer. A dearly loved child is wanted, received, and accepted. A dearly loved child is provided for, cared for, and equipped with everything he or she needs. A dearly loved child is positioned for success and comforted after a fall.

This is who you are. You have been born of God and, as a result, enjoy full access to every right and benefit that comes with it. Receive this truth and embrace its implications. You are a child of the Most High God.

RENEWING INSPIRATION:

Jesus wants you to always have this image of God in your mind-that He is your Abba, Father. Why? Because He wants you to know that there is nothing more important or too insignificant for the Father when it comes to His children.
