God Is…I Am… Devotional

Day 35 – 3/1/19: RENEWING TRUTH:

God is Love (and He Loves Me)

RENEWING SCRIPTURE:

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

1 JOHN 4:7-10

RENEWING THOUGHT:

God doesn't just show love; God is love. He loves you as yo are, no matter what you have or haven't done. God's love I constant. You are loved because God is loving. He loves bell than you can. He forgives more freely than you do. He meets you where you are, as you are, and redeems you with His love.

God's love is inexhaustible. Even when we were sinners, God showed His love for us by sending His Son to die in our place. That’s how much God loves you. He loved you to death and back again. Yesterday, today, and forever-His love is unwavering, tenacious, relentless.

God’s love is covenantal in nature. In the Old Testament, the Hebrew word chesed-frequently translated “lovingkindness-refers to God’s covenantal love. This is why God’s love is unconditional. Nothing you can do can remove God’s love from you. When He fastens His love upon you, He does so with the strength of His promise-keeping integrity and holiness. Such rich mercy and transforming grace, this is the amazing extravagance of God’s heart toward you. No matter what else may happen in your life, now and forevermore, God is love. And He loves you.

RENEWING INSPIRATION:

As God’s beloved, you are not defeated, rejected, abandoned and left without hope. No, you are valuable, treasured, significant, righteous and blessed of the Lord.

Day 36 – 3/2/19: RENEWING TRUTH:

l Am Greatly Loved by God

RENEWING SCRIPTURE:

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved ), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

EPHESIANS 2:4-7, NKJV

RENEWING THOUGHT:

You are greatly loved by God. Pause now to ponder this extraordinary statement.  Full of mercy and lovingkindness, like a mighty river that never runs dry, deeper than any ocean, vaster than any sky's expanse, higher than any mountain range, and like a rock, unchanging forever; this is God's love toward you.

How much does God love you? Even when you were dead in sin and far from God, God thought about you, loved you, and made a way for you to come to Him. Before you were born, by His grace, He sent Jesus into the world to redeem, adopt, and impart His authority to you. This is how much God loves you.

His love is more than your mind can comprehend. It will take eternity for Him to show you the unfolding, multi-faceted realities of it. It will take eons of time to explore the exceeding riches of His grace and abundance of His kindness toward you. It will take forever for us to see and know and understand what Jesus did for us.

You are more loved than you know. Believe you are loved. Make it the centerpiece of your identity. You are greatly, dearly, completely, utterly loved by God.

RENEWING INSPIRATION:

God loves you like Jacob loved Rachel, like Boaz loved Ruth. He loves you! He delights in you! He rejoices over you with singing and dancing! That is why Jesus had joy set as He endured the shame of the cross. What was His joy? You!
