Recovery For Abused Women

“Empowering the abused woman to recover with God's truth"

Don't worry about or be stopped by your past; every sin you have committed in the past, once you accepted Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, was washed away by His precious blood - they are covered under Jesus' blood. Therefore, you were made whole, complete in Christ when you accepted the gift of salvation so don't be fooled by the enemy's lies.  Here is what Col 2:9-15 says:

"9For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form [giving complete expression of the divine nature].

10And you [a]are in Him, made full and having come to fullness of life [in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead--Father, Son and Holy Spirit--and reach full spiritual stature]. And He is the Head of all rule and authority [of every angelic principality and power].

11In Him also you were circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, but in a [spiritual] circumcision [performed by] Christ by stripping off the body of the flesh (the whole corrupt, carnal nature with its passions and lusts).

12[Thus [you were circumcised when] you were buried with Him in [your] baptism, in which you were also raised with Him [to a new life] through [your] faith in the working of God [as displayed] when He raised Him up from the dead.

13And you who were dead in trespasses and in the uncircumcision of your flesh (your sensuality, your sinful carnal nature), [God] brought to life together with [Christ], having [freely] forgiven us all our transgressions,

14Having cancelled and blotted out and wiped away the handwriting of the note (bond) with its legal decrees and demands which was in force and stood against us (hostile to us). This [note with its regulations, decrees, and demands] He set aside and cleared completely out of our way by nailing it to [His] cross.

15[God] disarmed the principalities and powers that were ranged against us and made a bold display and public example of them, in triumphing over them in Him and in it [the cross]." (biblegateway.com - Amplified).

Rom 8:1 let's us know that we who are in Christ Jesus will have no more condemnation.

The other part of what I am saying is if you sin after you accept Christ, you must repent. The repentance we do initially at the beginning of salvation will not cover us if we sin after we accept Christ.

Once we accept Christ and is baptized in the Holy Spirit, we cannot live in darkness saying we know the Light; there is no darkness in God (1John 1:5-6). But if we repent, confess our sins, God is faithful to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). That is why it is so important to take inventory of ourselves daily; we might sin and don't recognize we have sinned.

God is a good God and He made it possible for mankind to be restored back to Him through His Son Jesus taking our place; He took our punishment upon Himself so we would not have to be punished. All we have to do is be obedient to God by following the leading of His Word. Jesus was an example for us and we cannot go wrong following in His footsteps - He loved His enemies, He obeyed God, why can't we? We are not alone, Jesus left us a Comforter, the Holy Spirit to help us, teach us, intercede for and through us, etc.

Therefore, let's rise up today and shake off every hinderance, every dead thing, fear, guilt, shame, unforgiveness, and whatever else is stopping us from having a personal relationship with the God Head (Father, Son, Holy Spirit). Because before we can be obedient to Them, we must know Them. And how do you get to know someone? By spending time with them. We must spend time with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit by praying, worshipping, praising, studying the Word and meditating on it; not necessarily in that order.

My Bishop, Gary Greer said something so powerful, how can we walk in the fire when we don't know the Fire (paraphrase )? Good question! It got me to thinking! Now I want to get closer and closer to the one who gives me the fire. Not because I want to make a name for myself, I know it is not about me but about God, but I want to know the God Head better.

So why not get started today getting to know the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit better?

God bless and Shalom,
Dr. Hooks
