God Is…I Am… Devotional

Day 41 – 3/7/19: RENEWING TRUTH:

God Delights in Me

RENEWING SCRIPTURE:

The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who

saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.

ZEPHANIAH 3:17

RENEWING THOUGHT:

You are delighted in. Let that sink in. The Lord, Commander of the Hosts of Heaven, delights in you. What a wonder and mystery this truth is.

There is a part within most Believers that is surprised God even tolerates us, much less finds joy in us. But it is true. Watch parents with their child. They take enormous delight in their little one. That child brings them pleasure just by existing and being. He or she doesn’t have to do anything special. That child can even misbehave and still be delighted in. They are delighted in because of who they are (and whose they are), not because of what they have done.

The Lord is more loving than the best parents who ever liked. He is more gracious, and full of joy than anyone in the history of the world. He delights in you because you are you. You don’t have to do anything special and you don’t have to be something you’re not. You are delighted in because of who you are, not because of what you have done.

Your heavenly Father is more loving than you could ever imagine, He is nearer and more approachable than you think. The God of all creation delights in you.

RENEWING INSPIRATION:

No matter what other people have said about you, God delights in telling you in His Word who you are in Him-loved, valuable, precious, talented, gifted, capable, powerful, wise and redeemed.

Day 42 – 3/8/19: RENEWING TRUTH:

I Delight in the Presence of God

RENEWING SCRIPTURE:

You will make known to me the path of life; in Your presence is

fullness of joy; in Your right hand there are pleasures forever.

PSALM 16:11, NASB

RENEWING THOUGHT:

Often our flesh and our souls can be resistant to spending time with God. Getting a little more sleep or perhaps watching another episode of that favorite television series can seem to have a great appeal. The good news is, you are far more than merely a body and a soul. The real you is a spirit. Paul made this clear when he wrote: "Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again" (1 Thessalonians 5:23, NLT).

The truth is, your born-again spirit longs for and loves to be in God's presence. For your spirit, spending time with God is neither a chore nor a duty; it is a privilege and a delight. In fact, once your spirit has been made alive by the Holy Spirit, it hungers for God’s presence the same way your body craves food. Just as a thirsty deer pants for a water in the noonday summer heat, so your spirit longs to be with your Father God.

Once you absorb this truth, it becomes easier to recognize and follow the promptings of your spirit, even when your flesh seems to be pulling you in another direction. And the more time you spend with God, the stronger your spirit-man becomes in relation to your soul and body. The true you longs to commune with God.

RENEWING INSPIRATION:

My friend, time spent with God is never wasted time! As you devote some time each day to commune with the Lord in spite of your hectic schedule or the challenges that you are facing, I believe that God will take care of the rest.
