God Is…I Am… Devotional

Day 19 – 2/13/19: RENEWING TRUTH:

God Cares for Me

RENEWING SCRIPTURE:

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

1 PETER 5:6-7, NIV

RENEWING THOUGHT:

God cares for you. Look outside. Do you see the beautiful flowers? Do you see the birds fed day by day? Your heavenly Father who clothes the flowers with beauty and faithfully feeds the birds is more than able to provide for you. Moreover, He knows your every need.

God cares for you. Those four simple words have the power to change your life, if you let them. Say them to yourself, “God cares for me.” You see, if God cares for you, nothing is impossible. If God is on your side, then you have access to all that I need.

This is how David defeated a giant, Moses parted a sea, and how Lazarus walked out of a tomb. God was on their side! And God is on your side too. Find assurance in the fact that God cares for you and cast all your cares upon Him.

Will a mother forget the child she nurtured and bore? Even if a mother would forget, God will never forget. He will never forget you. He cares for you. It is humbling when we call upon God and recognize our need. But how much better is it for us when we do humble ourselves before the One who can lift us up and make us new. He can be trusted. Do not tremble. Do not be dismayed. For the Lord, your God, is with you wherever you go!

RENEWING INSPIRATION:

I’ve found that one of the most exciting things about the Christian life is discovering day by day just how much your heavenly Father loves you!

Day 20 – 2/14/19: RENEWING TRUTH:

I Am Anxious for Nothing

RENEWING SCRIPTURE:

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts, and minds through Christ Jesus.

PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7, NKJV

RENEWING THOUGHT:

Be anxious for nothing. Let worry and fear and anxiety take no root in your mind. Even when the enemy rages like a lion, resist him, and he will flee. Let the lies and fears of the enemy gain no foothold. This is how we take captive every thought. We arrest the thoughts that are contrary to the Word of God; we read them their rights, and kick them out of our minds!

Remember, God is gracious and kind toward us. He abounds in love. He is well able to do exceedingly abundantly about what we ask (See Ephesians 3:20, NKJV).

Are we asking? Are we calling on God for His supply? There is so much more available than what we ask! There is so much more than what we seek to obtain.

Call upon God. Let your requests be made known. It is an act of faith to pray and ask God for His intervention. Like a good father’s delight to answer his child and supply him with his wish, how much more does your heavenly Father delight to answer your cry and supply your need.

He is accessible to us. He is more than enough, and He knows what we need, even before we ask. But we have to ask. It is our asking that is His delight.

Receive the peace of God. Let His peace that “surpasses all understanding” be the guard for your heart and the keeper of your mind. Resist the enemy and give no ground to worry or fear. Let the peace of God pour over you. Then, with a clear and washed mind, a faith-filed mind, call upon God for your every need. He is your Great Supplier!

RENEWING INSPIRATION:

The presence of anxiety is unavoidable, but the prison of anxiety is optional.
