God Is…I Am… Devotional

Day 51 – 3/17/19: RENEWING TRUTH:

God is My Sovereign Lord

RENEWING SCRIPTURE:

And He was withdrawn from them about a stone's throw, and He knelt down and prayed, saying, "Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not My will, but Yours, be done."

LUKE 22:41-42, NKJV

RENEWING THOUGHT:

Jesus, being God, did not consider His equality with God something to be selfishly clung to. Rather, He emptied Himself of His privileges and prerogatives as a member of the triune Godhead. Taking the very nature of a servant, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death-even death on a cross. Jesus, being fully God, humbled Himself to fulfill the will of the Father (See Philippians 2:6-8).

Jesus perfectly modeled a life wholly consecrated to God's will and ways. When He was on the Mount of Olives in the Garden of Gethsemane, He did not want to go to the cross. His will was that somehow another way be found for all mankind to be saved. The path to the cross was not His will, yet He prayed, “Not my will, but Yours be done."

A powerful prayer to pray  in seasons of uncertainty or confusion is "Not my will, but Yours be done." Jesus modeled modeled this prayer in His life. When His disciples asked, "Lord, teach us to pray ..." He taught them to ask for the Father's will to be done: "Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven" (Luke 11:1-2).

Let God's plan and purpose for your life take preeminence in your heart. Fully submit to God and receive all the good things the Lord has for you.

RENEWING INSPIRATION:

When God tells you to do something, always do what He says even if it doesn’t make sense to you!

Day 52 – 3/18/19: RENEWING TRUTH:

I Am Submitted to God's Plan and Purpose

RENEWING SCRIPTURE:

Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God; your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness.

PSALM 143:10, NKJV

RENEWING THOUGHT:

God has a big, good, important plan for your life. He has your days written in His book (See Psalm 139:16). When He crafted you uniquely in your mother's womb, He had a good destiny in mind that included you fulfilling a key role in His redemptive purposes on the earth.

Once you renew your mind to the truth that God is good, that He loves you unconditionally, and that His plans for you are equally good, it becomes an easy thing to yield yourself fully and confidently to Him. You want to play your part to the fullest.

Sit before God as your Teacher. Learn from the Master who created all things and loves you fully. He calls you Himself where you can find all you need. He longs to gather you to Himself as a hen gathers chicks safely under its wings. Safety is found in your God.

In full submission to God, you will find true life. The one who seeks his life will lose it, but the one who loses his life for the Gospel will find true life (See John 12:25). If you want to find fulfillment in life and live the life God created you for, fully submit to God's will. That one step will spark new life and lead you into your destiny.

RENEWING INSPIRATION:

There is nothing like our God. And He has a will for your life that you literally were prewired to be most fulfilled by.
