God Is…I Am… Devotional

Day 85 – 4/20/19: RENEWING TRUTH:

God’s Word Does Not Return Void

RENEWING SCRIPTURE:

“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

ISAIAH 55:11, NKJV

RENEWING THOUGHT:

Sometimes cars fail to start. Cakes occasionally refuse to rise. Mobile phone calls don’t always go through or stay connected when they do. Even the best of friends doesn’t always come through in the critical moment. The fact is, there are very few things in this world that you can count on all the time. But there is one thing that never fails. God’s Word always has an effect. It is always working, always bringing about change. Living and active and sharp, His Word never returns to Him void and it never fails to bear fruit. His Word always accomplishes His purposes and returns to Him with a profit.

God’s Word is so full of life that it always accomplishes something. God’s Word creates. It brings hope. It causes life. It brings joy, peace, and goodness. God’s Word is wisdom and knowledge. It is understanding and discretion. His Word is alive. When you read the Bible, the words of God work and accomplish God’s purposes in you. It has a living, active affect in your heart and mind, ever drawing you closer to God and making you more like Jesus. New seeds of life grow in you and brings forth His fruit when the Word of God takes root in your heart. The Word of God can conform you to the image of Jesus. Lean into the Word and receive all it says about you. Read and believe His Word. As you meditate on His Word, it will not return void. It will accomplish His good work in you.

RENEWING INSPIRATION:

You can change your life by letting the Word of God change your mind.

Day 86 – 4/21/19: RENEWING TRUTH:

I Reap Life When I Sow to the Spirit

RENEWING SCRIPTURE:

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

GALATIANS 6:7-8, NIV

RENEWING THOUGHT:

You reap what you sow. And you reap more than you sow. This is an immutable, infallible, inescapable principle-woven by God into the very fabric of the universe. Of course, the principle clearly applies to natural seeds. If you sow corn, you will reap corn. Sow barley…reap barley. Things reproduce after their own kind; even a child knows this. What many people don’t know is that each day they can sow different types of seed: physical, spiritual, relational, and even financial. And in each case, like produces like. Whether you sow to the flesh or sow to the Spirit, a corresponding harvest will result.

You sow to the Spirit when you give love, share encouragement, offer hope, declare the Word, or bless others from your material resources in the Name of Jesus. And as you do so, you can be confident that you will reap an abundant harvest of the same: It would make a mockery of this principle if you didn’t.

Sow to the Spirit with joyful abandon. Scatter seeds everywhere you go. You will reap life-now and in eternity.

RENEWING INSPIRATION:

You always get more when you sow God’s way, but it’s up to us to take the first step. That starts with being faithful in planting the first seed. It may be difficult to take the first step, but once you do, you’ll be rewarded with much more than you ever expected.
