Recovery For Abused Women

“Empowering the abused woman to recover with God's truth"

First, and foremost, know that God is not picking on you, trying to hurt you, or mad at you - life happens to all of us!! God is not trying to harm you in any way because Jesus has satisfied your sin debt with God (Romans 8:3-4) - Christ has redeemed you from EVERY curse of the Law, and its condemnation, by becoming a curse for us (Galatians 3:13), including sickness, disease, infirmities, pain, shame, guilt, and sorrow (Isaiah 53:4-5; 1 Peter 2:24).

Isaiah 53:4-5 AMPC: “Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy]. [Matt. 8:17.] But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.”

1 Peter 2:24 AMPC: “He personally bore our sins in His [own] body on the tree [as on an altar and offered Himself on it], that we might die (cease to exist) to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed.”

When a storm comes to us, it should not take us by surprise. Jesus told us in John 16:33 AMPC, “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]”

Now that we have dealt with that lie of the enemy, let’s look at some encouraging Scriptures, that’s going to help us keep our eyes on Jesus, when the storms come; that’s going to help us rest in Jesus’ Finished works!

James 1:2-4 KJV: “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”

Isaiah 54:17 AMPC: “But no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall show to be in the wrong. This [peace, righteousness, security, triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord [those in whom the ideal Servant of the Lord is reproduced]; this is the righteousness or the vindication which they obtain from Me [this is that which I impart to them as their justification], says the Lord.”

Isaiah 41:10 AMPC: “Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice. [Acts 18:10.]”

Isaiah 41:13 AMPC: “For I the Lord your God hold your right hand; I am the Lord, Who says to you, Fear not; I will help you!”

Isaiah 43:1-2 AMPC: “BUT NOW [in spite of past judgments for Israel's sins], thus says the Lord, He Who created you, O Jacob, and He Who formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you [ransomed you by paying a price instead of leaving you captives]; I have called you by your name; you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned or scorched, nor will the flame kindle upon you.”

Isaiah 44:2, 8 AMPC: “Thus says the Lord, Who made you and formed you from the womb, Who will help you: Fear not, O Jacob, My servant, and you Jeshurun [the upright one–applied to Israel as a type of the Messiah], whom I have chosen. Fear not, nor be afraid [in the coming violent upheavals]; have I not told it to you from of old and declared it? And you are My witnesses! Is there a God besides Me? There is no [other] Rock; I know not any.”

Deuteronomy 31:8 AMPC: “It is the Lord Who goes before you; He will [march] with you; He will not fail you or let you go or forsake you; [let there be no cowardice or flinching, but] fear not, neither become broken [in spirit–depressed, dismayed, and unnerved with alarm].”

1 Peter 5:6-11 AMPC: “Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you, Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully. [Ps. 55:22.] Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour. Withstand him; be firm in faith [against his onset–rooted, established, strong, immovable, and determined], knowing that the same (identical) sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood (the whole body of Christians) throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace [Who imparts all blessing and favor], Who has called you to His [own] eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will Himself complete and make you what you ought to be, establish and ground you securely, and strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the dominion (power, authority, rule) forever and ever. Amen (so be it).”

Psalm 34:1 KJV: “I will BLESS the LORD at all times, His praise shall continue to be in my mouth.”

Where we get into trouble at, is we get ahead of Jesus our Lord and Savior and try to handle our lives ourselves, instead of humbling ourselves under God’s mighty hand, so HE can exalt us in due - casting ALL our cares up Him because He cares for us - 1 Peter 5:6-11, Jeremiah 29:11, Psalm 55:22, Proverbs 3:5-6!! We are not alone - Hebrew 13:5, Philippians 4:6-7.
