“Soul Ties” Explained: Part 1 - Session 1

Today I want to start a series called, “Soul Ties!” Soul ties are very important; they can hinder or enhance us – make us better or harm us. If we are still connected to the things or people in our past, it can affect us presently or in the future. I found some great information about soul ties on this website, b4prayer.org; this site gives a full explanation of soul ties and it’s results – plus, it gives a prayer to pray against soul ties.   

The purpose of this teaching is to make you more aware of soul ties and help you get set free from them. A lot of times, we don’t know we need to be set free from them; that was my case. In 2006, after divorcing the last abusive guy, I found out about soul ties – had not heard about them before that. I heard a message and that message let me knew, I was still soul tied to my ex-husband. I did more research about soul ties and found the b4prayer.org’s website. I prayed the prayer against soul ties, and God delivered me from them. Not only did I pray the prayer for the ex-husband, but for anyone in my past or present at the time, whom I was still soul tied to. Therefore, I know soul ties are very real and they are nothing to play with; ANYTHING that the devil is involved with, is no joke! Take soul ties VERY serious! In my book, “Unholy Matrimony: Healing for the Abused Woman,” I talk about ungodly soul ties and I include the prayer to pray against soul ties; all of that information came from b4prayer.org’s website.

Before you start studying the articles on Soul Ties, I want to encourage you and say that all the information you read and study on this, please take it to the Lord and ask Him to reveal to you how this applies to your life and to reveal the soul ties that are binding you. If you are always bitter, angry, thinking of the past, feeling rejected and any other things or people that you are constantly meditating on you are probably tied to those things. The Lord is wanting all His children free so that they can give Him all of themselves. Spending time with Him and being intimate with Him is where He really talks to you. Do not be too busy that you cannot give Him time. That is where He reveals the deeper things of Him.  

As you look at this teaching on soul ties, I pray that your eyes of understanding be enlightened and that it will set you free. Jesus came that we could have life, and have it more abundantly. This day will you choose life. You cannot move forward with God if you cannot resolve the things of the past. Whatever you are preoccupied with in your mind, and meditate on those things all the time, and cannot hear the voice of the Holy Spirit, you are probably soul tied to something or someone. The Father brought you to this site for a reason. He loves you so much, He always wants the best for you.

Deuteronomy 10:20: Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name.

Deuteronomy 10:20 Amplified: You shall [reverently] fear the Lord your God; you shall serve Him and cling to Him, and by His name and presence you shall swear

1 Corinthians 6:17: But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

1 Corinthians 6:17 Amplified: But the person who is united to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him.

1 Corinthians 2:16: For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

1 Corinthians 2:16 Amplified: For who has known or understood the mind (the counsels and purposes) of the Lord so as to guide and instruct Him and give Him knowledge? But we have the mind of Christ (the Messiah) and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart.

A soul tie is the knitting together of two souls that can either bring tremendous blessings in a Godly relationship or tremendous destruction when made with the wrong persons.

A soul tie in the Bible can be described not only by the word knit, but also by the word cleave, which means to bring close together, follow close after, be attached to someone, or adhere to one another as with glue.

GODLY SOUL TIES

1 Samuel 18:1-3: And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.  And Saul took him that day, and would let him go no more home to his father's house.  Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. KJV.

1 Samuel 18:1-4 Amplified: WHEN DAVID had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own life. Saul took David that day and would not let him return to his father's house.  Then Jonathan made a covenant with David, because he loved him as his own life. And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was on him and gave it to David, and his armor, even his sword, his bow, and his girdle.
