“Empowering the abused woman to recover with God's truth"
I been doing some research about a comment I heard someone make on yesterday, which was, “God won't put more on us than we can bear” – saying has been around for decades.
First of all, let us get this straight!! God IS NOT putting ANYTHING on us that is bad!!! God put ALL our sins, sicknesses, diseases, infirmities, pain, shame, guilt, and EVERY other requirement of the Law, and consequence, that came from Adam sinning in the Garden of Eden, bringing a curse onto all mankind, onto Jesus!! Jesus took care of ALL of those things by becoming a curse for ALL mankind, over 2000 years ago, once and for all - past, present, and future!!
Think about it, why would a loving God, who sent His only begotten Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to die for us (while we were yet sinners-He DID NOT, and DOES NOT want us to be destroyed) so we could be restored to Himself, and making sure we would have NO hinderances, that would interfere with that fellowship, by giving us ABUNDANT LIFE, and EVERYTHING pertaining to life and godliness, turn around and put sickness, disease, infirmities, pain, burdens (Jesus told us to cast our cares, upon Him, to take His yoke, because it is easy, and His burden is light), etc. upon us??? DOES THIS MAKE ANY SENSE??? God DOES NOT operate like that!!
God is not wishy washy or confused!! God is a loving, good, good, Father, who loves us UNCONDITIONALLY, and NOTHING will ever separate us from Him.
I searched the Scriptures for the saying, “God won't put more on us than we can bear,” and each time what came up was 1 Corinthians 10:13 - as I said, that saying has been around for decades - people have added their own interpretation of it!! Now, people are still quoting it wrong!!
Again, God is not putting ANYTHING bad upon us - PLEASE STOP SAYING GOD PUT BAD THINGS ON US or GOD CAUSES BAD THINGS TO HAPPEN IN THE WORLD!! If you have said this, I suggest you repent, and if you have not said it, this does not apply to you.
The devil is the one who puts bad things on us; he comes to steal, kill, and destroy BUT Jesus, our Lord and Savior, who laid down His life FREELY for us, came to give us ABUNDANT LIFE (John 10:10-11)!!
The devil wants people to think God is doing those bad things (putting sickness on them, etc.), so they will not pray against him!! Again the saying, “God won't put more on us than we can bear,” came from a misinterpretation of 1 Corinthians 10:13 - people down through the decades have misquoted it!! I keep repeating myself so you will ALLOW Holy Spirit to plant the truth of God’s Word in your hearts!! As Andrew Wommack says, “It’s the truth you know that will set you free!!”
It is OUR responsibility as born-again believers, as disciples of Christ, to study the Word of God for ourselves, ALLOWING Holy Spirit to speak to us, and give us the revelation we need from the Word!! It is NOT our Pastors, or any other Minister’s responsibility to make sure we have a relationship with God!! It is the Minister’s responsibility to teach us the Word, but it is up to us if we receive it and keep our hearts fertile, so the Word can be planted on good soil. It is OUR responsibility to learn how to have a relationship with God; to connect with God EVERY DAY, in prayer, studying of the Word, being in communion with Him, etc., so our minds can be RENEWED to the truth of God’s Word!!
If our minds are not renewed with the truth of God’s Word, we will continue in our old way of thinking, behaving, thinking God causes bad things to happen in our lives, and the world, and misquoting Scriptures!
We have no one to blame but ourselves for what is going on in our lives!! People nor the devil can hold us down because Jesus gave us authority AND power to thread on serpents, and scorpions, and over ALL the power of the devil, and NOTHING shall by ANY means harm us (Luke 10:19)!! The ONLY authority the devil or people have over us, is what we ALLOW them to have!! It is past time that we use our authority, and Power of Holy Spirit, to SHUT DOWN the devil, and the people who are being influenced by the devil, to come against us!! We don’t have authority over people, but we sure have authority and power over the spirits using people!!
Here is 1 Corinthians 10:13 in two versions, along with Andrew Wommack's commentary on it, that will fully explain this Scripture. As you read the Word for YOURSELF, ask Holy Spirit to give YOU a revelation of this Scripture!!
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God [is] faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear [it].
Amplified Classic Version of 1 Corinthians 10:13:
“For no temptation (no trial regarded as enticing to sin), [no matter how it comes or where it leads] has overtaken you and laid hold on you that is not common to man [that is, no temptation or trial has come to you that is beyond human resistance and that is not adjusted and adapted and belonging to human experience, and such as man can bear]. But God is faithful [to His Word and to His compassionate nature], and He [can be trusted] not to let you be tempted and tried and assayed beyond your ability and strength of resistance and power to endure, but with the temptation He will [always] also provide the way out (the means of escape to a landing place), that you may be capable and strong and powerful to bear up under it patiently.”
Life For Today Study Bible Notes by Andrew Wommack:
Note 11 - There are no unique temptations, but the devil likes to make us think there are. If he can convince us no one understands, that no one has ever had this problem before, then he can isolate us and take away our hope. However, any temptation we face is just some variation of the same old thing. It may come in a different size box, be wrapped in different paper, and have a different bow, but the contents are the same.
Understanding this defuses much of the power of temptation. In context, Paul was warning these Corinthian believers, who thought they could eat meat offered to idols without any temptation on their part, to think again. The temptation that the Israelites encountered in the wilderness, which drew them back into idolatry, was still around. If these Corinthian believers flirted with sin, they would be tempted. Therefore, “flee from idolatry” (1 Corinthians 10:14).
Note 12 - Even though temptation is universal to mankind, we are not left on our own. God is faithful. Jesus was tempted in all points like as we are, and yet He overcame every time (Hebrews 4:15). Part of His ministry is to specifically aid us in overcoming temptation (Hebrews 2:17-18). This verse gives us God’s word that He will not suffer us to be tempted beyond our ability. Most of us have experienced times when we thought we couldn’t resist another minute. Either we were wrong, or we were on the verge of a breakthrough. The Lord promised that He would not allow us to be tempted above what we are able to bear. So, at those times when we can’t stand another minute, we need to stand two, and this promise will pull us through.
Note 13 - Some people have interpreted this verse to say that the Lord is the one who brings temptation into our lives and that this is His promise that He will not put on us more than we can bear. That is not so. James 1:13 says, “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man.” It’s our own lust that draws us into temptation (James 1:14). Also, Satan can come against us without any solicitation on our part, as he did with Jesus (Matthew 4:1-10 and Luke 4:1-13). It is not a sin to be tempted; it is sin to yield to temptation. This scripture is not attributing the responsibility for temptation to the Lord, but rather, the Lord is saying there are limits as to how far He will allow us to be pressured under temptation. Even when we reach this limit, this verse does not promise that the Lord will remove the situation. He provides a way of escape, but we have to take it. We can rest assured that anyone who yields to temptation failed to see or just plain rejected God’s way of escape. God is faithful to this promise.
