"The Needful Thing!"

Scripture: Luke 10:38-42

“³⁸ Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. ³⁹ And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. ⁴⁰ But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.” ⁴¹ And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. ⁴² But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her” (biblegateway.com – NKJV).

 

We are so busy doing our own thing that we are not doing God's "One thing" that He is requiring us to do in this hour!!

 

We are "so busy" and most of the time we are running around in circles!! A lot of times, half of our busyness is because "We are working for God" or "We are being about the Lord's business!" Really? Are we really?

 

Most of the time we are doing what WE THINK God wants us to do!! However, in reality, God did not tell us to do half of what we are doing!! We do it for many reasons; some good and some not so good!!

 

A lot of times we really have our own agenda and say it is for God but it is really for ourselves that we do what we do!! Or, we try and mix God’s agenda with our agenda, using more of our agenda than God’s to “Get er done!” Let's just STOP and get real with ourselves and with God!!

 

I am not saying don’t do good deeds or help people, I am saying when you do those things, make sure God is telling you to do them!! We MUST be led by God in EVERYTHING we do, otherwise, it can come back to bite us!! Remember, what we do for God will last and God’s blessings does not add sorry to us but maketh (continually causes us to be) rich; it prospers our life not take away from it (Proverbs 10:22)!

 

Trust me; I know things done outside of God’s will can have a negative effect on your life!! I have many, many, many, stories I can tell (enough to write another book:) of the horrible things which happened to me because I helped someone and God did not tell me!!

 

TIP: If you help someone, and negative things begin to happen to you, don’t let the devil tell you it is because you helped the person and have you saying, “I will never help anyone again.” No, it is not because you helped that person that negative things are happening to you, it is because God did not tell you to help them! You never know why people are going through what they are going through so when you intervene in people’s lives, make sure it is God telling you to do so; you just might be interfering with what God is doing in them!! Stay out of God’s business unless He invites you in it!!

 

A lot of the things that happened to me brought me to my knees mentally and physically; they ALMOST caused me to give up more times than I can remember!! BUT thanks be unto God who caused me to triumphant over my enemies through Jesus Christ MY Savior and MY Deliver!! MY God is Awesome, He CAN move mountains, kept ME in the valley, and hides ME from the rain!! MY God is Awesome (from Pastor Charles Jenkins’ song, “Awesome”)!!

NOW, I laugh at the devil because as the old people used to say, "The devil thought he had me but I got away!!" Praise be unto God!!! Nothing that I have done but ALL the glory and honor goes to God!! Many, many, many, times I wanted to give up and die; I thought I could not go on, I did not see a purpose for my life BUT God said, "NOT SO!!" He NEVER gave up on me and HE revised me, not man or woman; GOD DID IT!! And I thank Him!! I thought my life was over but God did not allow me to quit; the Holy Spirit inside of me pushed and pulled me right up out of the slump I was in!! So I know what God can do!!

 

Word of Encourage to the broken and struggling: I want to stop and encourage someone who is going through right NOW!! NEVER GIVE UP and NEVER GIVE IN to the enemy!! God has YOU in the palm of His hand and will NEVER let you go!! God has GREAT plans for you, don't listen to the devil but let the Holy Spirit be your Comforter and Guide!! No weapon formed against YOU shall prosper!! Jesus has ALREADY fought your battles and given YOU the VICTORY!! NOW RISE UP and WALK in the POWER and AUTHORITY Jesus has given YOU!! Depend on God alone to do what needs to be done in your life!! God bless you!!

 

Okay, now to continue with the message!!

 

Why did I have negative consequences to "doing good"? Because God did not tell me to do over half of the things I was doing for people!! I FELT in my heart to help them and I just knew it was God-NOTTT!!

 

If you have a passion to help people, you are a prime candidate for the devil to set you up!! You MUST know when God is speaking to you to help someone, when you are speaking, and when it is the devil speaking!!

 

You might say, "The devil will never tell you to help anyone!!" WRONG!! When he is setting you up for a fall he will and have you thinking it is God because you are doing a "good thing!!"

 

As Apostle Dannie Williams of Citadel of Hope in Leesburg FL says, "Every good thing is not a God thing!!" YOU might think you are doing a good thing, and it might be, BUT is it the needful thing, the necessary thing God is asking you to be doing at that time in your life?

 

Think about it!! I challenge you to take the quest with me to find out from God, what is the one needful thing that you should be doing right now, in your life!! Time out for going through the motion of making a difference; it is time to make a difference in and for the Kingdom of God!! Don't guess, think, or wonder what God wants you to do, KNOW without a shadow of doubt what God wants you to do!!

 

Do you know the "One thing" God is asking YOU to do now, in this season? If not, God will tell you!! Go directly to the Source so He can let YOU know that ONE THING, that NEEDFUL THING, HE wants you to do NOW!! Do you want to be a Mary and sit at Jesus’ feet and listen to Him (Luke 10:39) or a Martha, being “distracted with much serving…” (Luke 10:40)? I want to be a Mary; how about you?

 

If you want to be a Mary, this is for you!! Ready? Set!! Let's GO!! Seek God through prayer to find out your NEEDFUL THING, YOUR ONE THING HE WANTS YOU TO BE DOING NOW!!
