God Is…I Am… Devotional

Day 75 – 4/10/19: RENEWING TRUTH:

God has Anointed Me

RENEWING SCRIPTURE:

The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion-to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.

ISAIAH 61:1-3, NKJV

RENEWING THOUGHT:

The Old Testament practice and imagery of anointing is a picture of God setting someone apart for a specific role then empowering him or her to fulfill it. In the very same way, you are anointed by God to do great things. He has set you apart for His work. The gifts and calling God has given you are irrevocable. You are not anointed for yourself, but rather for God's good plans and purpose. And His plan is greater than anything you could possibly imagine.

All anointing comes from God. Christ Himself gave the church apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers to equip His people for works of service. The Spirit distributes His gifts to individual Believers so the church may be built up.

You are anointed for so much. You are anointed to proclaim good news to the poor, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim release from darkness for prisoners held captive, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor, and comfort to all who mourn and grieve.

You have an anointing from God. You have been set apart and empowered. You can do His will by the grace of God and His enabling power. With God's anointing, you can do all He has called you to do. He has equipped you and will help you fulfill your divine destiny.

RENEWING INSPIRATION:

His Anointing is on you, in you and all over you. Because of it, you have been enabled to do things you couldn’t normally do.

Day 76 – 4/11/19: RENEWING TRUTH:

I Am an Oak of Righteousness

RENEWING SCRIPTURE:

... They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.

ISAIAH 61:3, NIV

RENEWING THOUGHT:

The imagery Isaiah refers to is for those who have been anointed by God-Believers like you and me; "oaks of righteousness." An oak is a strong, long-lived, fruitful tree. lts wood is solid, beautiful, and resilient. Its roots go deep to withstand storms and droughts. lts leaves give shade and shelter.

You are an oak of righteousness.

Because He has declared you righteous through the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ, you have everything you need to stand and flourish in this world. ln God, you can remain unmoved in the face of the fiercest winds of adversity, bear abundant fruit, and provide a refuge for others. You are an oak of the Lord.

You are anointed to proclaim good news to the poor, to bind up the brokenhearted, and to comfort those who mourn. An oak of righteousness is a bastion of strength. You can lead others to Christ, who rescues those who are pertaining and sets captives free.

The Lord has made you an oak of righteousness, planted to display His glory and goodness. You are immovable and stable-deeply rooted in God’s Word. Therefore, you flourish in every circumstance.

RENEWING INSPIRATION:

You are not righteous because you feel righteous. But you are the very righteousness of God in Christ solely because the sacrifice of Jesus made you so. When you believe this, your faith is accounted for righteousness.
